How do I split an image into a grid?+

How do I split an image in half?+
For a left and right half, set 2 columns and 1 row. For a top and bottom half, set 1 column and 2 rows. You get two equal pieces.
How do I split an image into 4?+
Pick the 2 × 2 preset, or set 2 columns and 2 rows. You get four equal quarters, cut in your browser.
How do I cut an image into equal pieces?+
Set the columns and rows you want. Every tile comes out the same size, give or take a pixel on the last row or column. The readout shows the tile size before you download.
What is a 3×3 Instagram grid?+
It's one photo split into nine squares that line up into a single big picture across your profile. Pick the Instagram 3×3 preset and you get all nine tiles, named by row and column so you post them in order.
Can I make a photo magnet mural from one picture?+
Yes. Split the photo into a grid, print each tile, and back them as separate magnets. Lined up on the fridge they rebuild the whole picture. The Magnet mural preset gives you a common layout to start from.
Does the splitter upload my photo?+
No. The cutting happens in your browser with the file you pick. Nothing is sent to a server or saved anywhere.
Should I pick PNG or JPG?+
PNG keeps the most detail and is the safe choice for printing. JPG makes smaller files that are quicker to share online. You get the same cut either way.
What size will each tile be?+
Each tile is your photo's pixel size divided by the grid. A 3000 × 3000 photo split 3×3 gives nine 1000 × 1000 tiles. The readout shows the size before you download.
